Sportster® — (ET Bracket Racing Format – 500 Full Tree)
Open to ALL Sportster® V-Twin Motorcycles.   This Sportster® Class is open to ALL Year Model Sportsters and All Configurations of Sportster®  – Street Bikes, Buell and Drag Bikes.   The class is run on 1/8 mile drag strips.     The Sportster Class is designed to give ALL Sportster Owners & Racers a completely separate class to run against each other in an EVEN RACING FIELD.  

*** Motorcycle must be ridden under it’s own power to staging, starting line and back to the pit area after completion of the run (no towing allowed except for verified breakage after the conclusion of a run).

Format:
The Sportster® Class is an E.T. Bracket Class run on a .500 Full Tree.    This is an all run field and will qualify for eliminations based on your time during the second round of qualifying.

Designation:    SP  followed by Rider Number.

General:
A rider may only enter one Sportster in this class, and that bike may only be entered one time in this class.

Sportster® E.T. Qualifying
All entries in the Sportster Class will run round one and round two of qualifying on a random pairing basis.    After Round Two of qualifying Racers line up in the left or right side of the lane your class is called to on a random pairing basis until were down to 16 bikes.

Buybacks:  —  1st Round Buybacks Only

The class will qualify a 16-bike field and place them on Sportsman Ladder.

Sportsman Ladder Parings:  Once we get down to 16 bikes or less, the class will be placed on a Sportsman Ladder based on reaction time from the previous round.   Once the ladder is generated, lane choice is given to the rider with the better qualifying position. 16 – 8 – 4 – 2 – Winner.

Points / Entry Fees / Payouts:
Entry Fee / Payout go to: CTMDR 2019 Entry Fee – Payouts    **** Trophies and Payout to the – Winner – Runner Up – Semi.

Engine:   Only Sportster® Motorcycle Engines.

Fuel:   Gasoline, Alcohol and Nitrous allowed.   **No propylene oxide.

Frame:   Any frame for Sportster® Engines.  Street Legal or Drag Type Frames.   Must pass Tech Inspectors approval for safety.

Suspension:   Front suspension minimum size is factory or larger and minimum travel of 2 inches.    Rear Suspension  —  Struts Allowed.

Ground Clearance:   The motorcycle must have a minimum of 2” ground clearance with rider sitting on the bike.

Brakes:   Brakes: Front and Rear required.   Disc or Drum OK but must be in good working order.   We want you to stop before the end of the drag strip.

Controls:   Handlebar controls must be located in safe, workable position.   Foot pegs and foot controls must be located in safe, workable position and must be mounted in a safe, craftsman-like manner.    All controls must meet or exceed OEM equipment standards.

Body:    Stock OEM fenders and gas tank, or custom fenders and gas tank are allowed and must be mounted and constructed in a safe, craftsman-like manner.

Chain Guards / Belt Guards:    Yes Chain Guards are recommended on all bikes entered.   We know there are some who dont want to run a Chain Guard for whatever reason.    Its your leg — Not Mine.

Ignition:    Any ignition system is allowed.    Computers: only data gathering computers allowed.    Must have a working Kill Switch either factory switch or aftermarket.     NO – Delay boxes, Electronic Throttle Stops and Auto Shift devices.    If you dont have a Kill Switch — Ues an Old School Kill Switch.    For you young guys who have got no idea what this is I will explain it.   Get some mason string  need about 3 feet or less put one loop in it and pout it on your belt — put a couple loops in the other end about 6 inches apart and put this end on you spark plug wires.   If you come off the bike your spark plug wires stay with you.  — Old School Kill Switch.

Lights:    Street Legal Bikes  —  Headlight, taillight and brake light must work.
Drag Bikes with slicks / wheelie bars, single or two engine Sportster Drag Bikes – you need a tail light.  Especially running after dark.   Nothing New been like this since the 80’s its a Safety thing.

Transmission:    Can run any stock or after market Sportster transmission.   Can use any clutch.  Chain or  Belt Drive.    Rear wheel drives may consist of any ratios and materials.

Clutch:   Stock or Stock Type Clutch Setup.  Aftermarket slider clutches prohibited.

Tires:    DOT Street Tires and Slicks are permitted.

Wheelie Bars;   Wheelie bars are required with slicks

Body:    Stock OEM fenders and gas tank, or custom fenders and gas tank are allowed and must be mounted and constructed in a safe, craftsman-like manner.    Shells are legal.     Rear fender must cover the width of the rear tire and extend beyond the vertical center line of the rear axle.

Fairing – Any Faring Allowed must be securely mounted.

Seat:
Stock OEM or seat with a step to prevent the rider from sliding backwards and sliding off.   All motorcycles must have a seat and approved by tech.

Tech:   All motorcycles must pass tech before practice.   Motorcycle, rider and their protective gear ( Full Face Helmet, Leather Gloves, Leather Jacket, and leather or safety shoes up or above your ankles)   Must pass tech.   Tech official will have final say on any unclear rule or equipment.

General Safety:

We Recommend — ALL Riders should have a SNELL 95 or higher full face helmet, shoes above the ankle, (NO Teeny Shoes) Leather Gloves, and a Leather Jacket.  Any rider running faster than 10.99 must also have leather pants. Pants and Jacket are not required to be zipped together. *** Nylon or textile jackets and pants are not permitted, even if they have pads. All jackets and pants must be made of 100% leather
